It’s that time of year when we start to loathe winter. We collectively complain and commiserate about the freezing temperatures, the snow and ice, and the lack of sunshine. Even though we know that spring is just around the corner, we still dream of warmer days and the feeling of sunshine on our skin. Another sign that spring is just around the corner is that at Danform we are running low on our boot inventory and our sandal collection has tripled.
While trying on all the new sandals, (it’s a job requirement) I started thinking about my ideal vacation. I think it hit me when I had a pair of Birkenstock Gizeh’s on in Sun, my ideal vacation at this moment would be an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. The sunshine, the carefree attitude, I’m there! I then decided to ask some of my fellow co-workers where their ideal vacation would take place and what shoes would they bring with them.
Courtney would like to go on a European adventure. She wants to visit Scotland, France, England, and Italy. She wants to check out all the hot spots in each country, eat delicious food, and of course do a little shopping. The shoes she would bring with her are the Cobb Hill Irelands. They are comfortable, cute and perfect for traveling around Europe.
Betsy would also go to Europe, but more specifically Italy. She would like to go around Tuscany sampling amazing cheeses, breads, and of course some delicious Italian wine. The shoes she would take are the Dansko Fridas in burnt orange because she could wear them throughout the day and they’re dressy enough to wear out at night.
Sue would also go to Italy; I’m sensing a theme here. But specifically Sue would like to visit Cinque Terra, which is on the northern coast. She loves the quaintness of it and all the beautiful colors you see in the flowers, the houses and the turquoise blue Ligurian Sea. The shoes she would most likely bring are her black and grey Naot Kedma Oxfords. They’re her go to shoe and she would most likely be wearing them on either continent.
Carroll would like to visit England, the home of fish and chips, Big Ben, and Clarks Shoes. So he would of course have to bring a pair of Clarks shoes with him. He picked the Unstructured Ravels because they make great walking shoes and they come in size 14!
Katy would love to travel to Japan. She has always wanted to go there to experience the culture, eat a lot of sushi, and train with her grand master at his dojo. If you didn’t know, Katy is very well trained in Martial Arts so don’t ever get on her bad side. She said that the perfect shoe to bring to Japan would be her Blundstones. They’re easy to take on or off when entering certain places around Japan, and if she’s there during Monsoon season, then she’s got a great pair of rain boots!
Last but certainly not least is Tim. He would like to go to Fiji. The bluest sky and equally blue water, warm sandy beaches and grass huts that sit in the ocean, what more could you ask for? It’s the perfect place to really unwind and relax and to be at peace. The perfect shoe for that would have to be an Olukai. All Tim needs is a pair of the Olukai flips flops and he’s there!
It would be nice to get away to some of these places, to forget about this dreary cold winter we’ve been experiencing. At times it seems we’ll never get out of this crazy cold but in just a few weeks, we’ll start to remember why we’ve stayed here in this beautiful state for so long!
